כרטיסי תושב קבוע ללא תאריך תפוגה צריכים להיות מוחלפים.

USCIS מציע שורה חדשה של חוקים הקובעים תקופה של 120 יום להחלפת הכרטיס

USCIS  בוושינגטון פרסם היום הצעה לדרוש מ-750,000 מחזיקי כרטיס תושב קבוע חוקיים ללא תאריך תפוגה להחליף את הכרטיסים הנוכחיים שלהם. 

USCIS פרסם היום ברשומות הפדראליות חוק הפתוח לתגובה מהציבור אשר מציע לדרוש מהתושבים החוקיים הקבועים להגיש בקשה  (I-551) לקבלת כרטיס תושב חדש, הידוע בשם  GREENCARD בתקופה הגשה של עד 120 יום. השינוי יאפשר לUSCIS להוציא יותר כרטיסי תושב קבוע בטוחים, לעדכן את המידע של מחזיק הכרטיס, לערוך בדיקות רקע, ולאחסן בצורה אלקטרונית את טביעות האצבע ואת תמונתו של מגיש הבקשה.

כרטיסי תושב קבוע מוצאים כראיה של אישור של מחזיק הכרטיס לעבוד ולגור בתוך ארה"ב.

באוגוסט 1989 ה-INS (רשות ההגירה והאזרחות) החלה להוציא כרטיסים חדשים עם תאריכי תפוגה של 10 שנים, ודרשו מהתושבים להגיש בקשה לכרטיס חדש בתום התקופה. אולם, בין 1979-1989, הכרטיסים הוצאו ללא תאריך תפוגה. אלו הכרטיסים שהחוק האמור נוגע אליהם.

החוק מציע שתושבים קבועים חוקיים שההצעה משפיעה עליהם יגישו בקשה להחלפה חוקית של הכרטיס GREEN CARD שלהם בטופס (I-90).

הטופס החדש דורש מהמבקש לספק פרטים עדכניים ביוגרפים וביומטריים(תמונות וטביעות אצבעות). מרכזי תמיכה לבקשות לאורך ארה"ב וצורת מילוי אוטומטית חדשה יתנו לUSCIS את האפשרות לעבד מספר גדול יותר של בקשות תוך זמן קצר.

בנוסף להצעה של תקופת הגשה של 120 יום, החוק גם מציע למחוק כל הפניות ואזכורים בנוגע לתקנות שפגו בקשר לטופס (I-90)  ולתקן את הכותרת ואת התאריך הרישום של טופס (I-90).

לבסוף, החוק מציע מכניזם של השמדת כרטיסיGREEN CARD  ללא תאריך תפוגה.

לפי החוקUSCIS  יוכלו להשמיד כרטיסי תושב קבוע ללא תאריך תפוגה דרך האזכור ברשומות הפדראליות.

Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reminds its customers that the correct phone number for the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) is 800-375-5283. Between March 23 and June 5, 2007, USCIS mailed notices listing the wrong phone number for the NCSC.

This error has since been corrected and all notices sent after June 5 contain the correct telephone number.

USCIS is in the process of sending letters to affected customers informing them of the correct telephone number. Customers who received a notice from USCIS between March 23 and June 5 are asked to disregard the NCSC number listed in the notice and direct all customer service inquiries to 800-375-5283.

USCIS Sets Final Fee Schedule to Build an Immigration Service for the 21st Century U.S.

Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced a new fee schedule for immigration benefit applications and petitions. In consideration of public comments received, USCIS has made some substantive changes that will benefit some families with children applying for adjustment of status and prospective adoptive parents who experience delays in finalizing their adoptions.

The new fee schedule will be effective on July 30, 2007. Applications or petitions postmarked or filed on or after that date will require the new fees.

The final rule is available on USCIS’ Web site at http://www.uscis.gov , in addition to a detailed chart that identifies the new fees for immigration benefit applications and petitions.

The UK Government is introducing a new immigration category that allows religious workers in non-preaching roles to come to the UK to work for up to two years.
This will cover workers whose duties include performing religious rites - such as reading the scriptures aloud or tending to the deities - but not preaching to a congregation.
 

Unlike Ministers of Religion, they will not have to speak English, and will not be eligible to settle in the UK.

They will also be prohibited from acting as a Minister of Religion, Missionary or Member of a Religious Order, in order to avoid this new category being used to circumvent existing rules.

The Home Office will also introduce a pre-entry qualification for all religious workers, carrying out pastoral and non-pastoral work, as part of the wider implementation of the Points-Based System for managed migration.

A further proposal contained in the consultation - for a post-entry civic knowledge test for Ministers of Religion - will not now be introduced.
This reflects the separate introduction of a similar test for those applying for British citizenship introduced in November, and similar proposals for those seeking settlement as set out in the five year strategy for asylum and immigration published in February this year.
